Saturday Fun
Today Nicky went back to the vet for a follow up (he went on Wednesday, too). He got his stitches out, which means no more "bite-not" collar. The vet gave him more cough medicine. I hope he stops coughing soon se we can take him to the dog park to play w/ the other doggies.
After that we took Riley to the monthly pug meetup. This time it was at a dog park farthur away than our usual haunt, in a town where, without fail, you will get lost trying to find anything. We spent 45 minutes (once we got to the general area) trying to find this place. The Yahoo Maps directions were ALL wrong, and it doesn't help that they designed the layout of this town by giving a ruler to a drunk and saying "draw a map". Sreets just end when the numbers should keep going, streets change names and then pick up blocks away, streets stop at canals and pick up on the other side so you have to drive 10 miles around the waterway to pick up where you left off, there will be THREE "rose garden roads" all within a stones throw of eachother (and NONE of them will have the dog park on it).
We arrived 45 minutes late to a one-hour event, but luckily a few people stayed behind so in the end Riley got to play w/ some friends.
He's still a monster, pissing off the other dogs by biting them in the face, but THANKfully one or two dogs put him in his place. He NEEDS to learn that he can't behave that way. I loved seeing other, bigger pugs "pull dominance" on him. It seems I can't teach him when/how hard to bite, so maybe he'll learn it from his peers.
M took tons of photos and I took tons of video. I hope to go thru it all this weekend.
It was a valentine's day theme, and Riley had his too-big Old Navy "Love Me" shirt that even with pinning, didn't fit.
He also had his Dudley's Dog Bakery special Valentine's Day dog collar (or "scrunchie") on. Photos later.
Then we went to our favorite sandwich place where you can bring your dog if you eat outside (Renee's, for you locals) and had lunch.
Riley was SO good at the restaurant. I find he is the perfect gentleman if you put him in a chair. (See camera-phone photos, previous post.) This way he can't wander or bother others or pull on the leash or eat garbage that's on the ground. He just sits there like an angel and then eventually (usually, anyway) falls asleep.
We came home and believe it or not, took a nap. We slept much longer than our normal naps, so I feel like we lost Saturday. But we must have needed it.
