Meetup.com is a neat site where you can find people in your town that have the same interests as you. There are meetups for everything you can image, from politics to hobbies to fan clubs and more. M and I go to computer-themed meetups all the time.

You can go to meetup.com and type in your zip code or browse for your town and then see a list of the most popular meetups for your area.

Or you can go to meetup.com and run searches for things you are interested in, like photography, john kerry, linux, etc.

Of course there is a pug meetup. Just go to http://pug.meetup.com and find one in your area.
